Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is not a brand-new story. It is a new, improved version of the Dragon Ball Super TV anime, which first aired from 2015 to 2018. Toei Animation announced it on January 25, 2026, at a Dragon Ball fan event called Genkidamatsuri, held at Makuhari Messe near Tokyo. It premieres on October 11, 2026, on Fuji TV and its partner stations in Japan. Toei calls this the "ENHANCED" edition. The team is doing much more than a simple clean-up. They are adding many new shots, fixing and redrawing old scenes, and re-rendering all of the footage. The voices are being recorded again, with new music and sound effects. The story itself is also being rebuilt, to follow Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball Super manga more closely. The original TV version was known for some uneven animation in its early episodes, so many fans are glad to see it redone. This edition covers the first big parts of Dragon Ball Super: the God of Destruction Beerus saga, the Golden Frieza saga, and the Universe 6 saga. The story begins some years after Goku and his friends beat the pink monster Majin Buu, the last big threat in Dragon Ball Z. Earth is finally calm. Goku, a strong fighter from an alien warrior race called the Saiyans, spends his days farming and training. Far away in space, however, a very dangerous being wakes up after a long sleep. He is Beerus, the God of Destruction, a cat-like god whose job is to destroy planets to keep the universe in balance. Even the gods who protect the universe are afraid of him. Beerus has heard a rumor about a Saiyan who defeated the tyrant Frieza. He also remembers a dream about a "Super Saiyan God," and he wants a good fight. So he goes looking for Goku. When the God of Destruction arrives on Earth, the whole planet is suddenly in danger. Goku and his allies, including Vegeta, must find a way to face a power far above anything they have fought before. Later arcs bring back an old enemy in a new golden form and a tournament against fighters from another universe. These stories introduced key parts of modern Dragon Ball, such as gods, angels, and new Super Saiyan forms. For longtime fans, this is a chance to see these famous battles look their best. For new viewers, it is a good starting point for Dragon Ball Super, though knowing Dragon Ball Z helps. The opening song is "ONOGAMI" by MEGATERA ZERO, and the ending is by VK Blanka.
