Gong-Ja Kim is the hero of Shishite Ikiru SSS-kyuu Hunter, a story about hunters who climb a dangerous tower full of monsters. Before he became a hunter, Gong-Ja grew up alone as an orphan. Once he entered the tower, he stayed a weak, below-average fighter for a long time while looking up to the strongest hunters with real admiration.
That admiration slowly turned into bitter envy, especially toward the tower's top-ranked hunter, known as the Flame Emperor. Gong-Ja's jealousy grew so strong that it became the seed of his own power: when a rare skill card chose him, it gave him the strange ability to take on the strength of anyone who kills him, as long as he is willing to die to get it. This forces him to go through death again and again, each time learning a little more about himself and the people around him.
At the start, Gong-Ja is driven mostly by envy and the wish to be noticed. As the story goes on and he keeps dying and coming back, he slowly changes. He starts to think less about his own pride and more about protecting the people who depend on him. His journey connects him to other hunters such as Geom-Je, the Sword Emperor, and Anastasia Zelenska, leader of the Black Dragon guild, as he tries to survive the tower and grow past the jealousy that once defined him.

SSS-Class Revival Hunter is a TV anime based on a popular Korean story. It started as a web novel by the writer Sinnoa (also written Shin Noah). The novel later became a manhwa, which is a Korean comic, drawn by Neida and Bill K. The comic began on KakaoPage in December 2020, and English readers can find it on Tapas. In some places the story is also known as SSS-Class Suicide Hunter. The anime is planned for January 2027. STUDIO fu is making it, and Crunchyroll will stream it in many parts of the world. The story takes place in a world where a huge Tower has appeared. The Tower is full of monsters. People called Hunters go inside to fight. If they win, they can become rich and famous. If they lose, they can die. Hunters get a rank, from the weakest at the bottom to the strongest at the top. Some top Hunters are as famous as movie stars, and ordinary people follow them on TV and online. The hero is Kim Gong-Ja. He is an F-rank Hunter, which is the lowest rank. Nobody admires him. He spends a lot of time watching the Flame Emperor, the number one Hunter, and he feels deep jealousy. Gong-Ja dreams of being great one day, so that the people who looked down on him will finally respect him. Then the Tower gives him a skill of his own. It is a very rare, high-rank power, but it has a dark rule. It only works when Gong-Ja dies. When he is killed, he can copy a skill from the one who killed him. Soon he also gains the ability to go back 24 hours in time after each death. So every death becomes a lesson, and a new start. Gong-Ja is not alone. Through his copy power he gains a strange partner: the Sword Emperor. The Sword Emperor was once a top Hunter, and now he stays with Gong-Ja like a ghost. He sees that Gong-Ja has real potential, and he helps him grow. Early in the story, Gong-Ja sees something about the Flame Emperor that he was never meant to see. This puts his life in danger and gives him a strong reason for revenge. From there, Gong-Ja slowly climbs from the bottom of the ranks toward the very top. The tone mixes action, dark drama, and comedy. Gong-Ja often acts brave and proud, but under that he is lonely and wants to be noticed. Readers of the original story say this is what makes it special: his power grows from his own envy and pain. Because the hero must die again and again to get stronger, the story also touches on heavy feelings about death. Some viewers may find these parts hard to watch. Fans of tower-climbing fantasy and Korean hunter stories will find many familiar ideas here, like ranks, skills, and dungeons. The anime team is led by director Hiroaki Sakurai, who also directed The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Sayuri Oba writes the scripts, and Takahiro Yoshimatsu designs the main characters. Takeo Otsuka voices Kim Gong-Ja, and Satoshi Hino voices the Sword Emperor. With a finished novel of 400 chapters behind it, the anime has a long and complete story to draw from.
