Rich Girl Caretaker: I'm Secretly the Caregiver of the Most Popular Girl in This Rich Kid School

Rich Girl Caretaker is a romantic comedy set at Kiou Academy, a very expensive private school where the children of Japan's richest families study. The story began as a web novel by Yusaku Sakaishi, posted on the site Shosetsuka ni Naro from April 2020 to October 2021. Hobby Japan then published it as a light novel under its HJ Bunko label, starting in May 2021, with pictures by Sakura Miwabe. Monogatari Novels publishes it in English. A manga drawn by Sorahiko Mizushima began in July 2021. The anime is made by the studio Brain's Base and directed by Shusei Morishita. It aired 12 episodes from July to September 2026 on MBS and other channels, and streams on Crunchyroll.

The main character is Itsuki Tomonari, a high school boy who is very poor. His life is hard. His parents have a gambling problem, and they leave him behind. Then, by chance, he is caught up in a kidnapping together with Hinako Konohana, the daughter of an extremely rich family. At first Itsuki does not like her much. To him, she looks like someone who has everything handed to her.

After this event, Hinako's father makes Itsuki an offer. If Itsuki works as Hinako's personal helper, he will get a place to live, his school fees paid, and money every day. With nowhere else to go, Itsuki says yes. So the poor boy moves into a rich family's house and begins to attend Kiou Academy as a student, while secretly working for her.

The job hides a big secret. At school, Hinako is admired by everyone. She is elegant, calm, and seems perfect in every way. In private, she cannot take care of herself at all. She struggles with simple daily tasks and relies on help for almost everything. Itsuki's real job is to support her all day and quietly fix problems so that no one at school learns the truth. He has to keep this secret, and he also has to fit in with very wealthy classmates who live in a world he does not know.

Other characters add to the mix. Shizune is a strict maid in the Konohana household who trains Itsuki and keeps him in line. Mirei is a proud classmate who sees Hinako as a rival in grades and status. Narika is a sporty girl and a childhood friend. Each of them makes Itsuki's secret double life more complicated.

The show is light and funny, with many embarrassing and sweet moments. It is also a story about two very different people. One grew up with nothing, and the other grew up with everything but still feels lonely. As they spend every day together, they begin to understand each other, and slowly their feelings change. Fans of school romance and gentle comedy will enjoy it.
