About
Pop Pap Polters is a series of short anime that began on October 4, 2026, on TV Asahi in Japan. It airs on Sunday mornings as part of PicoAniTime, a TV block for short animated programs. What makes it special is how it is made. Instead of drawings or computer graphics, it uses stop-motion. Stop-motion is a kind of animation where artists move small models a tiny bit, take a photo, move them again, and take another photo. When the photos are played quickly, the models seem to move by themselves. Pop Pap Polters mixes this with tiny handmade miniature sets and real live-action video, so the world looks like a real room seen at a very small scale.
The show is about three little ghosts who are siblings. Their names are Pop, the youngest, Pap, and Polter, the oldest. Together their names make a playful joke on the word "poltergeist," a kind of ghost from old stories that moves things around and makes noise. These ghosts are not scary, though. They live happily and freely in a room that belongs to a human, their landlord, and share his space with him. The series shows their busy, cheerful daily life in that room, and the small adventures that happen when three tiny ghosts live next to a person who goes about his normal day.
The tone is light and cute, made for easy watching. It is a slice-of-life show, which means it focuses on simple everyday moments rather than a big plot or a serious conflict. Much of the fun comes from seeing ordinary things in a room, like furniture and household items, turned into a giant playground for the little characters.
The project is directed by Mozu of MOZU STUDIOS. Mozu also built the miniatures, wrote the scripts together with Yuuka, and even appears as the landlord in the live-action parts. Yuuka is the art director and character designer. Noriyoshi Konuma directs the sound, and Scat Goto composes the music. Shin-Ei Animation, the studio behind Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan, is credited as a production company. Voice actress Atsumi Tanezaki plays all three ghost siblings, and Junya Enoki provides the landlord's voice.
For viewers who enjoy handmade animation, tiny detailed sets, or gentle comedy that the whole family can watch, Pop Pap Polters offers something different from the usual anime of the season.
