Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden

Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden is a fantasy action story about a great fighter who gets a second life in a very weak body. The TV anime premieres on October 6, 2026, on Tokyo MX and other channels. It is made by Konami Animation, with Motoki Nakanishi as director. The story comes from a light novel series by Umikaze Minamino, published by Hobby Japan under its HJ Bunko label since September 2022. A manga version by Kabuto Kodai has run on Square Enix's Manga Up! service since November 2022. J-Novel Club publishes the novels in English. By April 2024, the series had more than 400,000 copies in circulation.

The story starts with an ending. A legendary warrior, famous for never losing a fight, is dying in bed. For a fighter who always wanted to die in battle, this quiet death feels like a failure. The warrior wishes there had been an enemy strong enough to be a real challenge.

Then the warrior wakes up again, in a completely new life. The warrior's spirit is now inside the body of Nia Liston, a four-year-old girl from a noble family. Nia is very sick and weak. Her body cannot even handle normal daily life, let alone fighting. But the old warrior knows how to use "ki," the inner life energy that martial artists train in many Asian fighting traditions. By controlling this energy, the warrior clears the illness from Nia's body and makes her healthy.

Now Nia has a second chance. The Liston family has shown her real kindness and love, and she wants to pay them back. She also still has her old warrior spirit, and she wants to find strong opponents and fight to her heart's content. The funny contrast between the small, cute noble girl and the fierce fighter inside her is a big part of the show's charm.

The world of the story has a special technology called "magivision." It works a bit like television, but with magic. Nia's path to fame and her plans to help her family run through this new medium, as she shows the world what she can do. Along the way, she trains, competes, and surprises everyone who underestimates her.

The series is a light, energetic mix of martial-arts action, family warmth, and comedy. It should appeal to viewers who enjoy stories about an overpowered hero hidden in an unlikely body.
