About
Kanojo no Tomodachi Mini Anime is a set of short bonus episodes made to go along with Kanojo no Tomodachi, known in English as My Girlfriend's Friend. Both started in October 2026. The mini episodes are not shown on regular TV channels. They only play with the AT-X broadcast of the main show, and online through the streaming service OceanVeil, which also streams the full series. They are listed as a 12-part short series made by the studio Quad, the same studio behind the main anime.
To understand these shorts, it helps to know the main show. My Girlfriend's Friend is based on a manga by the artist Jura. It began in May 2021 on YanMaga Web, a Kodansha website, and seven volumes had been collected by July 2026. The TV anime is directed by Takashi Ando, with scripts by Goko Shiraki. On Tokyo MX and BS11 it airs in an edited, censored version.
The story is about Takeru Hidaka, a high school student who is dating his classmate Kaori Koga. Things get complicated when Kaori's best friend, Tomoko Yoshioka, decides to come along on their date. During that outing, Tomoko starts to flirt with Takeru and tries to tempt him, even though he is her best friend's boyfriend. The show is a romantic drama about loyalty, temptation, and a love triangle among three young people.
The series is released under Deregula, a label for anime with stronger adult content. The genre tags include ecchi, a Japanese term for sexy or suggestive content, so both the main show and these shorts are meant for adult viewers. The mini anime features the same three main characters: Takeru, Kaori, and Tomoko. Little has been shared in public about what each short episode contains, beyond the fact that they are weekly extras tied to each new episode of the main series. For fans who watch the show on AT-X or OceanVeil, the shorts are a small extra to enjoy alongside the main story.
