#I'm Looking For a Zombie

#I'm Looking for a Zombie is a post-apocalyptic adventure with a surprisingly cheerful heart. The TV anime premieres on October 3, 2026, on TV Asahi's IMAnimation late-night program, and Crunchyroll streams it. Studio Comet is making it, with Shinya Une as director. Miyari Nemoto voices Aki, the heroine, alongside Lynn as Natsuki, Toshiya Miyata as Haru, and Hibiku Yamamura as Yu. Surii sings the opening song, and Cadode performs the ending song, "Soft Apocalypse."

The anime is based on a manga written and drawn by Katsuwo. It ran in ASCII Media Works' Comic Dengeki Daioh "g" magazine from June 2022 to November 2023, in three volumes. Yen Press is publishing it in English.

The world changed forever on a day people now call "Red Day." A sudden disaster turned most of the human race into zombies, and about 90 percent of humanity was lost. Thirteen years later, the few survivors live hidden in small villages, cut off from the ruined cities outside. The old world of shops, trains, and phones is gone.

Aki belongs to the new generation that grew up after Red Day. She has only heard stories about what life was like before. To her, the empty, broken city is not scary. It is exciting, and full of mystery and strange old things to discover. Her father has gone missing, and she decides she must find him. So Aki leaves the safety of her village with her childhood friends and heads out into a land full of zombies.

Once they leave home, things quickly become a real fight to stay alive. The friends must hide, run, and fight while searching for clues. Yet the danger also makes them feel more alive than ever before. The younger generation wants to take back the cities that the zombies now rule, and Aki's journey is part of that hope.

What makes this series different from many zombie stories is its tone. Instead of pure horror, it mixes survival action with comedy, friendship, and the fun of exploring. The title's hashtag hints at the playful, social-media-style energy of its young heroes. At the same time, there is real danger, and the mystery of Aki's missing father keeps the story moving.

It is a good choice for viewers who like zombie stories but want something brighter and more hopeful, with a group of lively friends at the center.
