Hello, I Am a Witch and My Crush Wants Me to Make a Love Potion! is a sweet and funny fantasy romance. The TV anime premieres on October 5, 2026, on AT-X, Tokyo MX, BS NTV, and RKB, with MBS following on October 6. Crunchyroll streams it. Studio diomedea makes it, with Keizo Kusakawa as director. Wataru Watari, the author of the My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU novels, writes the series structure. Mikako Komatsu voices the heroine, Rose, and Yohei Azakami voices the knight, Harij.
The story began as a web novel by Eiko Mutsuhana, posted on the website Shosetsuka ni Naro from 2019 to 2020. Futabasha printed it as two light novels with art by Vient, and a manga version drawn by Kamada began in 2020. In English, Cross Infinite World publishes the novels and Yen Press publishes the manga.
Rose is a witch who lives alone in a house near a lake, so people know her as the Witch of the Lake. She is a good witch who makes medicines and potions for the townspeople. Since her mother and grandmother died, she has lived by herself and rarely goes out. She is very shy and prefers to stay home. For about four years, she has secretly been in love with Harij, a handsome knight who sometimes comes to her.
One day Harij visits with a request that breaks her heart. He asks her to make a love potion. Rose thinks this means he loves someone else. She is crushed, but she also sees a small chance. She tells him the potion needs special ingredients, and he offers to help her gather them. This means he will keep coming to see her. For Rose, this is her one chance to spend time with the man she loves, even if their talks are awkward and she can barely look at him.
Then Harij starts to act in ways she does not understand. He shows up at her door with gifts, like fresh bread and a jar of apple butter. Rose, who does not think much of herself, cannot believe he might have any interest in her. Much of the fun comes from her anxious inner voice and the funny mix-ups between two people who are bad at saying what they feel.
The series is aimed at adult women readers and has a gentle, cozy tone. It is a good fit for fans of slow, kind romances with a fairy-tale setting.
