Girls und Panzer: Saishuushou 5

Girls und Panzer das Finale: Part 5 is the fifth of six movies that together form the final chapter of the Girls und Panzer story. It opens in Japanese theaters on October 9, 2026, including special formats such as 4DX, MX4D, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Cinema. Studio Actas makes it, and Tsutomu Mizushima directs, as he has for the whole franchise. The film was completed in August 2026.

Girls und Panzer began as a TV anime in 2012, followed by a hit movie in 2015. Its idea is unusual and fun. In its world, tank battles are a real sport for high school girls, called senshado, often translated as "tankery." It is treated like a traditional art, a bit like flower arranging or tea ceremony, and it is seen as a way to become a graceful young woman. Teams use real World War II tanks, and special safety rules keep the players from getting hurt. Schools in this world are also huge ships that sail the sea, with whole towns on their decks.

The heroine is Miho Nishizumi, a shy but brilliant tank commander. She comes from a famous family of tankery experts. At Oarai Girls' High School, she and her friends formed a small, underdog team that pulled off surprising wins against much stronger schools.

The das Finale films follow Oarai in a new competition, the Winter Continuous Track Cup. This time the reason is personal. The team wants to help their classmate Momo Kawashima get into university by showing she can be a good leader. So Miho steps down to vice-commander and gives Momo the top command position. The earlier parts came out in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023. In them, Oarai faced schools such as BC Freedom Academy, Chihatan Academy, and Keizoku High School in tense, clever matches.

Promotional art for Part 5 shows Miho facing St. Gloriana Girls' College, an elegant, British-style school, as the tournament reaches its final stage. Since the film is not out yet, the details of the battle are unknown.

The series is loved for its detailed tanks, smart battle tactics, and warm friendships. The four earlier das Finale films have earned about 2.3 billion yen in Japan, which shows how loyal the fans are. Newcomers should start with the 2012 TV series and the earlier films before watching this one.
