GelPiyo 2

GelPiyo 2 is the second season of GelPiyo, a very short comedy anime about soft, squishy little bird-like characters. The first season started on January 21, 2026, on the Tokyo MX channel in Japan. Each episode is only about five or six minutes long. The show aired on Wednesday nights and was also shown again in the morning on Tokyo MX's program Wake Up 7. Viewers could stream it at the same time on R Channel and catch up later on TVer.

The characters come from Taica, a Japanese company, where they first became popular on social media. The anime was their first time on TV. GelPiyo are said to have an alpha-gel body. Alpha gel is a soft, bouncy gel material made by Taica, so the joke is that the GelPiyo can be squashed flat and then pop right back into shape. They are cheerful and full of energy, and each one has a different personality. Among them are a careful gamer, a laid-back rapper, and a carefree, trendy girl.

The first season told a new story written just for the anime, not taken from the social media comics. It takes place in a strange place called Gel Town. There, a boss named Chiki, who runs a company called Alpha Industry, lets the GelPiyo loose as part of a plan to take over the world. The plan does not go well. Instead of causing real harm, the GelPiyo get mixed up in local life and seasonal events. They make a lot of noisy trouble, but the stories stay warm and kind.

Emi Nitta voices GelPiyo and also a second character in the cast. The other Piyo characters are played by a mix of voice actors, singers, and comedians, including Shouta Aoi and Daisuke Toyama. The first season was directed by Kazuma Taketani, and its theme song was delulu by Ai Tomioka.

AniList lists this second season as a comedy that continues the series. Details about its new stories, staff, and air dates were not clearly confirmed in the sources we checked. Like the first season, it should be a quick, light watch with silly jokes and cute characters, good for anyone who enjoys short comedy shows.
