Dali Si Rizhi 3

White Cat Legend, known in Chinese as Da Li Si Rizhi, is a donghua, which is the word for animation made in China. Studio Nice Boat Animation has made it the whole way, and it is one of the studio's biggest shows. The story comes from a Chinese web comic, or manhua, of the same name. Season 1 ran for 12 episodes from April to July 2020, and Season 2 added 12 more from November 2022. Plans for Season 3 were shared right after the Season 2 finale in January 2023. MyAnimeList lists this new part as starting on October 15, 2026, streaming on Tencent Video.

The show is set long ago in China, during the Tang dynasty, in the time when an empress named Wu rules the land. Much of it takes place in the great city of Luoyang. The heart of the series is the Dali Court, sometimes called Dali Temple in English. In real Chinese history, this was a government office that dealt with crimes and court cases. Here it is a busy workplace full of officers who look into strange events, chase criminals, and solve puzzles for the throne.

The twist that gives the show its English name is the boss. Li Bing, the Vice Minister of the court, is a big white cat. He walks, talks, and gives orders like any other official, but he looks like a large, fluffy cat in fine clothes. The other main character is Chen Shi, a young man from the countryside. He came to Luoyang to look for his older brother, who went missing. With no money left, he took a job at the Dali Court and now works under Li Bing. Other members of the court team include Qiu Shenji, Cui Bei, and Yi Zhihua.

The series mixes many styles at once. It is a mystery show, with cases to crack. It is an action show, with martial arts fights, which means fights with traditional Chinese fighting skills. It is also a comedy, with plenty of jokes about daily life at the office and about having a cat for a boss. Myths and legends from old China add a touch of magic. Viewers have often praised the series for its beautiful, smooth animation and its rich historical costumes and buildings.

This new season continues the adventures of Li Bing, Chen Shi, and the rest of the court. Since details about its story are still limited, it is best to watch the earlier two seasons first. They set up the characters, their friendships, and Chen Shi's search for his brother. For fans of Chinese animation, history, or simply a very serious cat in charge, this return to the Dali Court is worth looking forward to.
